John travis
PRESIDENT & FOUNDER
John Travis is the owner of J. Travis Painting and Travis Millwork, where he leads two Texas-based companies focused on high-quality commercial painting and millwork. A fifth-generation contractor, John grew up in the business and combines hands-on industry experience with a background in biomedical engineering and management consulting. Today, he oversees projects across Texas with a focus on excellence, innovation, and long-term customer relationships.
Todd Souers
Vice President of Operations
With more than 30 years of millwork and manufacturing experience, Todd Souers leads Comal Wood Products as Vice President of Operations. His career began on the shop floor as a temporary employee, where he developed a hands-on understanding of every step of the process and a deep respect for the craft.
Todd’s leadership style is grounded in service and continuous improvement—values that have built strong teams and lasting culture across every company he’s touched. Over the past decade, he’s helped two of Texas’ premier millwork firms expand their market presence and operational excellence through thoughtful guidance and a focus on people.
Before joining Comal, Todd served as Sales Manager for TWC Architectural Mouldings and Operations Manager at Delta Millworks, where he led teams on a wide range of innovative and high-profile projects. Outside of work, he and his wife, Kate, have shared life’s adventures together since 1994, raising eight wonderful children along the way.
Steven Franklin
Production Manager
With nearly a decade of leadership experience across different sectors of the wood and coatings industry, Steven Franklin brings deep expertise in wood manufacturing operations, process optimization, and creative product design. He believes that meaningful results come from genuine human connection.
Driven by a faith-fueled commitment to innovative excellence, Steven balances the artistry and science of product development – leading initiatives from concept through market launch with creative vision and rigorous quality standards. The focus of his expertise encompasses developing customized wood treatment, finishing, and coating solutions for high-visibility architectural projects, collaborating with architects and designers to achieve desired aesthetic outcomes while ensuring long-term performance. Passionate about fostering a healthy culture that empowers people to thrive, Steven knows that when teams flourish, breakthrough innovation follows – enabling people to do the best work of their lives. His passions outside of work include traveling and spending quality time with his two young children and wife, hiking mountain trails, skateboarding, and serving through fellowship in the local sober community.
Jake Dunn
Sales Representative
Jake Dunn is a Sales Representative at Comal Wood Products; he has over six years of customer relations experience and a strong focus on delivering solutions that fit each client’s exact needs.
Jake is committed to building lasting relationships through clear communication, timely follow-through, and precise attention to detail. His goal is to make the sales process smooth, efficient, and dependable—so every project moves forward with confidence. Jake enjoys spending time with his family and learning the evolving world of wood products.
